Carrying the Love Forward

Happy Friday, beautiful people. It’s Easter long weekend and to those observing, I wish you a safe, peaceful, and food-filled celebration surrounded by your loved ones.

I’ve been at odds with what to write about lately. I think it’s likely due to the fact that, as we navigate a 6th wave and another new variant into the mix (what else is new?), pandemic brain has infiltrated once again.

While local media has stopped alerting us of the daily covid case count, it continues to be a hot topic in the headlines, and needless to say, it has become tiresome. While I’m certainly not trying to diminish any concerns around Covid, after 2+ years of being in this predicament, we need to move on and accept the fact that Covid will be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future. We need to live with it and move forward.

Having said that, I feel like the re-integration back into normal life has had its challenges. While it’s liberating to know we can go about regular activities with masking being a choice now, it’s still been mentally taxing to adjust. Some people will still look at you strangely if you are not wearing a mask in spite of the lifting of restrictions. I think at this point, we all need to give each other a break and just focus on appreciating our lives.

I saw this on actress Jennifer Garner’s Instagram page recently and it resonated. She shared a quote from her mom saying:

“Look for opportunities to catch a stranger’s eye and smile at them. You’ll be a happier, healthier person.”

Patricia Ann Garner

I thought this was great advice because it speaks to the whole concept of being united as one – of rising by lifting others. This is a message we all need to keep in the back of our minds as we navigate a post-pandemic reality. We need to do better at appreciating each other as human beings and having more empathy and patience towards each other. We continue to be in this together.

Love, light, and blessings.
