Wow, it’s been exactly one month since my last post. It dawned on me that ever since I started this blog almost four years ago, I have never skipped a month of posting, so I can’t start now. 🙂
This week marked the first week of fall but at least we had that much-anticipated last bout of summer-like weather last weekend.
I have to admit that I’ve developed a renewed appreciation for autumn. You simply can’t deny the true beauty of the changing colours and the quote referenced above speaks to this.
With the onset of that autumn chill has come the automatic feeling of wanting to be indoors more, which has inadvertently rejuvenated my motivation to get back into going to my favourite group fitness class, BodyJam. I have been dwindling with my attendance in the last few months, namely because the summer months are just so busy and it becomes hard to say on top of it. I did, however, supplement my activity at times this summer by going for outdoor runs around the block, which surprisingly really felt good, however, the monotony of going around the same bends, passing same park benches eventually got just a bit boring after some time.
What is always great about group fitness is that each week you are dancing to something different and are surrounded by a mixture of new and familiar faces, so the energy is just live. This week in particular was really cool because we did a routine that was a bit of a throwback. And this might sound corny, but you tend to feed off of each other’s energy and movements in unison so much so, that it almost felt like we were on an invisible stage performing in front of a crowd of people. When you’re in that feeling of adrenaline-fueled bliss, how can you not let your imagination run a little wild, right? It’s a much-needed 60-minute escape from the daily grind that goes by in a flash.
With October around the corner, the Raptors are gearing up for their 25th season returning as the defending NBA champions. I’m certainly eager to see how things will play out given all the twists and turns since Kawhi Leonard’s departure. Here’s to another amazing year! Can we take it all for a second consecutive year? Anything is possible!
So here’s to more fun workouts, more basketball, being in the presence of kind, genuine, like-minded people, learning not to sweat the small stuff, and just soaking in each day as it comes.
